    Good times

District administration employees recently got together for the annual spring cookout, staged in the parking lot at the district office. Everyone enjoyed the delicious hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelons, and other goodies, as well as the team-building fellowship.

Kudos to chief cook Bill Dickerson, Director of Accounting and Financial Services, and other Business Office employees who helped put together the fun outing.

“This is a group effort from all the employees in the District and Annex buildings,” Bill said. “The administrators – D and E Band level, provided personal funds. Staff from various offices provided set-up and take-down support. I don’t want to name individuals, as I may inadvertently leave someone out that contributed.”

The cookout is an annual effort to enhance camaraderie among employees, and a good time was had by all.

“I believe it illustrates one of the College values, namely ‘Sense of Community and Collaboration,'” Bill commented.

    Big losers, or small winners?

From left, Ashley Bounds, Randi Faust, and Ann Kokx-Templet were winners (and losers) in the weight-loss contest.

You will be seeing considerably less of some District Office employees, thanks to a weight-loss contest that featured prizes for the biggest losers (or smallest winners).

During the summer, 17 District employees signed up for the Smallest Winner Challenge. “You’ve heard of the Biggest Loser Challenge, I thought why not start our own Smallest Winner Challenge,” commented Derrick McClendon, a contract administrator in the Purchasing Office, “With some help from two other co-workers (Terrie Beasley and Denise Segelquist), we put the word out here at the District Office. We figured you don’t have to be on the show to lose weight and start your own transformation.” (More …)

    District office celebrates cookout

Chef Bill Dickerson served up delicious burgers and hot dogs at the annual cookout.

The College’s District office got together on May 11 for the annual cookout, an annual spring event to provide an opportunity for fun, food, and fellowship. The Fiscal Affairs office coordinated the cookout, which featured hot dogs, hamburgers, side dishes, and desserts. Along with good food and fellowship employees celebrated Bill Dickerson’s 20 years of service with San Jacinto College. Dickerson, Director of Accounting and Financial Services, also served as the chef for the cookout, which was held under sunny skies at the District office parking lot.

The food was great, and a good time was had by all!

Congratulations to Bill Dickerson on reaching his 20-year milestone, and thanks to the Fiscal Affairs employees who helped coordinate the cookout.

A good time was had by all

MG020Bill Dickerson, director of accounting and financial services, and employees in the district business office recently started the 2009-10 year off with a bang by hosting a lively Meet and Greet, which was open to all employees who work at the District Administration Building. Kudos to Mini Izaguirre and others in the business office that helped put together the gala affair, which featured non-alcoholic champagne and festive fireworks poppers. After raising a toast to a successful year, everyone in attendance fired their poppers in unison. A good time was had by all (and fortunately the smoke from the fireworks did not activate the fire alarm system).
