Inaugural South Campus Food Pantry Ping Pong Tournament

The inaugural South Campus Food Pantry Ping Pong Tournament unleashed competitiveness from various faculty and staff across the campus, but all for a good cause. Amid trash talk and spectator outbursts, teams raised a total of 312 canned and dried food items for the South Campus food pantry. The winners of the tournament were math professors Benjamin Blanding and Gregory Brutsche, better known as Team “Smooth Function.” Due to the tournament’s overwhelming popularity, another event will likely be scheduled for spring. Thank you to all who supported and participated in this campus event that is sure to be a new tradition!

CANstruction Competition raises TONS for campus food pantries

‘Tis the season of giving, and this year 16 teams from across the College joined in the CANstruction competition in an effort to collect canned food items for the Central, North and South Campus food pantries. Each team held canned food drives in order to supplement their construction materials. In collaboration with the College’s veteran centers, each team was tasked with creating a structural piece of art with a military/veteran theme using the canned and dried food items donated, with all items being donated directly to the campus food pantries. The finished products were truly a sight to see! In total, the CANstruction teams raised 4,592 pounds of food for the campus food pantries. Congratulations to the team winners, and an overall THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the event and/or donated to this amazing cause. Check out some photos of these creative structures, and see more photos here.
