    Our deepest sympathy goes to Cheryl Mott on the passing of her husband, Larry “Hobo” Gene Mott.

    Hobo passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at home surrounded by love and his family.

    Services were held at the Light House Baptist Church in La Porte, Texas on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10:30 am.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Light House Baptist Church in memory of Hobo Mott.

    Cheryl Mott is an instructor in the College Prep Mathematics Department at Central Campus.

    JMOur deepest sympathies go to the family and friends of Jim McKenna, who passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

    Jim worked as an English professor at the Central campus since September 1969.  He was planning to retire on January 31, 2016.

    Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Mary Lee Larson McKenna. He is survived by his son, Kyle McKenna, daughter, Bridget McKenna Richards and husband David; sister, Marie Ferrier; niece, Katie Ferrier Gage and husband Brian; nephew, Thomas Ferrier and great-niece, Dorothy Rose Gage.

    A private family service was held at Forest Park East Cemetery where Mr. McKenna was interred next to his wife.

    In lieu of flowers or plants, the family would appreciate donations to MD Anderson Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society.

    Our deepest sympathies go to Cindy Coleman on the recent passing of her father, Wayland Ralph Taylor.

    Wayland Ralph Taylor passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Houston, Texas at the age of 76.

    Wayland proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 12 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Taylor and Mary (AnaLee) Morton and his 1st wife of 54 years, Ernestine Francway. He is survived by his 2nd wife of almost 3 years, Shirley Taylor; brother, Don Taylor and wife Kay; children, Cindy Lynn Taylor Coleman, Robert Dane Taylor and wife Arlene, Katheryn Gayle Taylor Duncan and husband Michael; grandchildren, William Taylor and wife Katherine, Ana Dobbs and husband Travis, Sean Taylor and Tabitha Lykins, Hayden Duncan, Micheala Duncan and Dawson Duncan; great-grandchildren, Ella Taylor, Brody Pacheco, Isabelle Dobbs, Devin Ripple and Dane Taylor; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

    A private graveside ceremony with military honors was held at Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.

    In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ASPCA.

    Cindy is the Administrative Assistant in the Emergency Management department for the District.

    Our deepest sympathies go to Myrna Valdez on the recent passing of her mother, Elvirita Gonzalez.

    Elvira M. Gonzalez “Elvirita” was born in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on January 21, 1930 and passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015.

    Elvirita was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She had an unwavering faith in God and was a prayer warrior who constantly prayed for others. She never stopped learning and at the age of 77, she enrolled in ESOL classes at San Jacinto College North campus.

    Elvirita was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Fernando Gonzalez, son, Fernando (Nando) Gonzalez and three sisters, Maria Luisa Villar, Oralia Torres, and Hortensia Castillo.

    She is survived by her son, Jose Luis Gonzalez and his wife Rosy, daughters; Hilda Gloria Gonzalez Fasci and husband Carlo, Myrna Gonzalez Valdez and husband Felix, four grandchildren; Fernando, Melissa Fernanda, Bertha Idalia, Luis Fernando, and Isaias Fernando and one great-grandson, Angel Oscar.

    A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Fellowship of the Nations Church in Houston, Texas.

    Our deepest sympathies go to Stephen Trncak, on the recent passing of his wife, Barbara Lynn Trncak.

    Barbara passed away on October 4, 2015, following a 10 year courageous battle with cancer.

    Barbara had an abundant zest for life, a vibrant smile, and was a beacon of joy to all she met. Everyone she came across was moved by her positive outlook, humor, and always left with a smile on their face. She was deeply interested, genuinely cared, and was enriched by other’s lives and families.

    Barbara’s foundation was anchored in family, friends, her church family of 30 years, and serving as a SWA flight attendant for 38 years. Barbara had a true passion for spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, and sunsets in the hill country. Her family and friends will deeply miss her kindness, her friendship, and her laughter.

    Barbara is survived by her loving husband Stephen, daughter Taylor, son Todd and fiancé Katy, and brothers Robert Johannesen Jr. and Terry Johannesen.

    Barbara was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert F. and Margaret Johannesen of Arlington, Texas.

    Celebratory funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. The visitation with family will begin at 12:00 pm and a memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m.

    Our deepest sympathies go to Dr. Janis Fowler, on the recent passing of her mother, Patricia Christensen.

    Patricia Ann McCarty Christensen was born on July 23, 1933 and passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer.

    Pat will be best remembered for her love of family, her generosity, her devout faith, and many close friends. She never hesitated to help others in need. Pat loved to celebrate the holidays with family – these usually included home cooked meals and many rounds of card or board games with her grandchildren. Other hobbies of Pat’s included antiquing, sewing, decorating, shopping, and working Sudoku and crossword puzzles. But most importantly, she was the glue that brought and kept the family together.

    Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard (Dick) Christensen, parents Esther and Jerry McCarty, brothers Gerald McCarty and Tom Ellsberry and wives, in-laws Elroy and Geneal Christensen and brother-in law Paul Christensen. Pat is survived by her children, Jerry Christensen (Carol), Janis Christensen Fowler (Ned), and David Christensen (Mary); grandchildren Robert, Hannah, Harrison, Libby, and Emalee; sisters Donna Adams and Margie McDermott; in-laws Bruce and Pat Christensen, and Delores Christensen, as well as many cousins.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Kingwood Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas.
    Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Holy Comforter Church in Kingwood, Texas.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s name to Holy Comforter Lutheran Church or to the Houston Museum of Fine Arts.

    Our deepest sympathies go to Olga Nava on the recent passing of her uncle, Joe Roy Nava.

    Mr. Nava was born on February 5, 1940 in Elmer City, Oklahoma, and passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 in Houston, Texas.

    Mr. Nava worked as a groundskeeper at the San Jacinto College North campus beginning in 1987 until his retirement in May 2005.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosendo and Martha Nava, his siblings, Fermin, Rosendo, Gabino, Jesus, and Aurora. Mr. Nava is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ysidra Nava, his children, Fred, Maurico, Victor, Alicia, and Sheila and many other family members.

    Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at The Compean Funeral Home Main Chapel in Houston, Texas.

    Our deepest sympathies go to Virginia Hanning on the recent passing of her brother-in-law, James Robert “Bob” Lewis.

    Bob was born on October 23, 1948 and passed away with his wife of 35 years by his side on July 25, 2015.

    He had a passion for airplanes, sports cars, golf, woodworking and Formula One racing.

    Bob is survived by his wife, Carol and sister-in-law, Virginia Hanning. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30 at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Gastonia, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cary, North Carolina for Heifer Project International.

    Our deepest sympathies go to Virginia Hanning on the recent passing of her father, Lt. Col. (Ret) Royal M. Hanning.

    Lt. Col (Ret) Hanning was born on December 16, 1929 and passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 85.

    Roy graduated from Texas A&M in 1950 and was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force for over 27 years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He earned a Master’s Degree from George Washington University in 1965 while attending Air Command and Staff College in Alabama.

    Roy married Lois Umphress in 1951 and they had 2 daughters. He and Lois retired to Van Alstyne, Texas and he became the manager at Double B Manufacturing for many years. They were both faithful to their church, Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman, Texas. Lois passed away in 2003 after 52 years of marriage. Roy later married Margaret Williams in May 2008. Roy loved to fish, travel, work on computers and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. (More …)

    Ms. Brown was born on June 12, 1923 and passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 in Coeur d’Alene, ID at the age of 92.

    Ms. Brown graduated from Kellogg High School in 1941 and attended the University of Idaho where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition and a Master’s degree in Home Economics Education.  Her professional career included teaching Home Economics and Nutrition in hospitals and high schools in Idaho and Washington before joining the WSU faculty. She was a County Extension Agent in Chehalis, Washington until her retirement in 1990.

    Ms. Brown is survived by her sister Joan M. Irons, and her four children, Mary Lynn (Brower) Bates, Elizabeth Jean (Brower) Moore, Dennis Eugene Brower, John William Brower, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

    A private family service and memorial will be held on July 23, 2015 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to North Idaho Hospice.
