Our deepest sympathies go to the family and friends of William D. Cleveland, who passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the age of 70.

William was born on June 23, 1949. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston. He taught Career Technology at Pasadena High School for 40 years, and was currently a part-time instructor at San Jacinto College. William was a member of the Cedar Bayou Masonic Lodge 321, and a former Baytown volunteer fireman and EMS member. He received Firefighter of the Year twice. He also enjoyed robotics, being a Ham radio operator, reading Robert Heinlein novels, spending time with his grandchildren, and Star Trek. William was also a volunteer Ham radio operator at events, such as the Chevron Houston Marathon and Baytown Gator Ride.

William is survived by his wife of 26 years, Diana Florrow Cleveland; daughters, Jackie Valencia and husband Joe, and Jordan Jamilosa and husband Nestor Martinez, Sr.; grandchildren, Melanie Valencia, Makayla Martinez, and Nestor Martinez Jr.; and numerous other relatives and friends.

William was a part-time instructor of Electrical Technology at North Campus.

Our deepest sympathies go to the family and friends of Kathy Sanchez, who passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at the age of 53. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 17, 1965 to Carolyn and Charles Sartor. She married Genesis Sanchez on September 26th, 1984. They made their home in La Porte, Texas.

Kathy received her master’s degree from Ashford University in Early Childhood Development. She devoted her whole career to educating children and was a professor at San Jacinto College for future educators. During her time as an early childhood educator and director, she served many different positions and was among one of the most accredited directors in the area. One of Kathy’s most recent accomplishments was earning a national accreditation at San Jacinto College’s Lab School for early childhood development.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Genesis Sanchez; daughter CieCie Sanchez and Joel Torres, and their children, Ava and Mateo Sanchez-Torres of La Porte; daughter and son-in-law Chelsea and Andrew DeWalle of League City; daughter and son-in-law Ahamaree and Randy Hagan, and their child, Jackson; brother and sister-in-law Mark and Lisa Sartor of Deer Park; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Carolyn Sartor; brother Mike Sartor; and sister, Cheryl Sartor.

Our deepest sympathies go to Inez Sims on the recent passing of her husband, LaMerril Sims.

LaMerril Sims was born January 11, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas to proud parents, Hermon and Geraldine Lusk Sims. LaMerril accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Dennis C. Jones. His life journey ended on September 22, 2019, in the comfort of his home where he was surrounded by his loved ones.

LaMerril leaves behind to cherish his loving memory a loving wife, Inez Matthew-Sims; daughter, Kelli Sims; son, Cory Sims, Sr.; grandson, Cory Sims, Jr.; brother, Marlon Shawn; sisters, Linda Dotson, LaTonia Brady, and Constance Withers; along with many other close relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Viewing will be held at 10:00 am, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Both services will be held at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will take place at Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Society in honor of LaMerril.
