Our deepest sympathies go to Brittany Heim on the recent passing of her grandfather, George Daniel Shepherd at the age of 88.

George Daniel (Dan) Shepherd went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2019 after a courageous fight with cancer. Dan was born on October 22, 1930 to Jake and Eloise Shepherd in the community of Wattsville, Raines County, Texas.

He was raised on a cotton farm in the middle of the great depression. At 17, after his father passed away, Dan began working as a groundskeeper at the San Jacinto Battleground, where he watched the Battleship Texas being brought into dock in 1948. In 1950, Dan moved to Fort Worth, Texas and within 4 months, met and married the love of his life of 69 years, Faye Cannon. He then enlisted with the US Air Force and became one of only two people in his group to work on the Air Force’s first Jet Bomber. After his tour of service, Dan and his bride moved to Deer Park, Texas to raise their three children.

Dan had a great love for his family and was a true friend that was respected and loved by many.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sisters. He is survived by his wife Faye Shepherd; sons, Bo Shepherd, Stormy Shepherd and wife Kimberly; daughter, Ginger Lambert and husband John; grand-children, Jake Shepherd and wife Kate, Brittany Heim, Sara Shepherd, Paul Lambert and wife Katy, Eric Lambert and wife Kimmy; great-grandchildren, Linda, Lane and Landry Shepherd, Luisa and Jack Lambert; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and very special friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 5 to 7 pm at Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel in Pasadena, Texas. The funeral was held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 1 p.m. at South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas.
