ACTION! 2019 Student Art Show

San Jacinto College South Campus Gallery Presents:
ACTION! 2019 Student Art Show
April 22 – May 8

Opening Reception and Award Ceremony:
Thursday, April 25, 3-5 p.m.

We received nearly 200 submissions from 75 student artists with a diverse range of mediums, and subject matter. So much of the work showed an overwhelming amount of talent, creativity, and passion, it was not an easy task to narrow it all down to a manageable group. Our guest juror, Eric Schnell spent almost 3 hours in the gallery viewing the submissions and creating a cohesive group of work that connects together through concept, and honesty.

About the Juror:
Eric Schnell has a BFA from University of Houston, and an MFA from Columbia University. He is a Galveston based artist and co-founder of the Galveston Artist Residency. He has created numerous site-specific installations in public spaces, including Artist Space (New York), Exit Art (New York), Momenta Art (New York), Arthouse (Austin), The Blaffer Museum (Houston), The Hammer Museum (Los Angeles) and Devin Borden Gallery (Houston). Schnell has been the recipient of grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and the Joan Mitchell Foundation.

The Galveston Artist Residency exists to promote and encourage the knowledge and appreciation of visual art by giving artists a gift of time and space for the development of their work. They provide studio space, accommodation and a stipend to three artists annually. For more information, please visit the galvestonartistresidency.org
