Mind Trekkers Call for Volunteers

San Jacinto College is hosting the Fifth Annual Mind Trekkers/ Adventures in STEM for area sixth graders on Central Campus March 7 and 8.  Once again, we are asking for your assistance. If you are new to San Jac, read on – and talk to a co-worker. We are looking for employees who are available to participate as we make this a fun, safe two-day event for 6,000 students. Your response has been great in the past, and I look for you to step up again in the same San Jac Proud way you helped out last year.

We need employees who are willing (with supervisor approval) to help us make these events happen on either Thursday, March 7th and/ or Friday, March 8th from 8:00 – 3:00 at Central Campus. We also need people on Thursday night from 6:00 – 8:00.  Our need is greatest on Thursday morning. And we need help Wednesday afternoon setting up or Friday, at the end of the day, taking down. There are opportunities to volunteer in three ways:

  1. We need people to help set up experiments on Wednesday afternoon and/or return experiments to storage on Friday afternoon.
  1. We need people to help with logistics – keeping children from wandering off, helping them cross the street from their buses to the gym, monitoring the restrooms and running basic festival errands. If you can work both shifts on a given day, it will be most helpful.
  1. We need people to help conduct an experiment. (Don’t worry – we will set it up and help you learn how.) We have San Jac faculty and students from the departments who are planning to manage experiment stations, but we also have “Mind Trekkers” experiments that our team will set up – and we need people to operate these experiments.  Again, if you can work both shifts on a given day, it will be most helpful.

If you are willing to work at the event (with your supervisor’s approval), please click on the link below and complete the form.
