Hundreds of school children attend the STEM Expos at San Jacinto College!

San Jacinto College hosted two STEM Expos within two weeks at the North and Central Campuses to give hundreds of students from Pasadena and Galena Park ISDs the chance to participate in hands-on STEM activities. These events were part of a collaboration with Communities in Schools-Afterschool Centers of Education (ACE) and supported by an American Chemical Society grant, which was awarded to Dr. Rachel Garcia for the funding the STEM Expos.

There were approximately 25 stations at each STEM Expo and included activities like mega-sized Jenga, FTC robotics and humanoids, under-water robotics, gak,  shrinky dinks, chemistry in a bag, gaming, physics experiments, skewer a balloon, and learning about the human skeleton and dinosaur fossils. San Jacinto College students, staff, and faculty members all pitched in to make this event a success and to give students from Pasadena and Galena Park an unforgettable STEM experience that they’ll remember for years to come.

Who knows? Maybe we’ll see them again in the future … in our classrooms!
