Congratulations Amanda Rose!

Student Awards 2015_8173Congratulations to Amanda Rose, San Jacinto College student life coordinator and Texas Junior College Student Government Association (TCJSGA) state advisor!

The Outstanding Student Leader Award has been renamed in her honor as the The Amanda Rose Student of the Year Award. San Jacinto College student Naomi Rosales, this year’s winner, is the first name to be placed on the plaque displaying the new award name.

Students will be placed on the plaque each spring semester at the annual Student Awards Ceremony.  Student organizations have the ability to nominate student leaders for consideration of the Student of the Year award.  The selection is made, based on those who are nominate by their peers or organization advisor.

Amanda has worked over the years to increase and maintain student engagement through her appointment as TCJSGA state advisor, TJCSGA Region V treasurer advisor and as a founding member of the Houston Area Two Year College Student Life Networking Group. She is also a member of the Council for Diversity & Inclusivity and the Service Learning Committee and serves as a facilitator for the Intercultural Competence modules, Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention (SHARP), and Safe Zone training. She placed third out of 66 TCJSGA state advisors among two-year schools in Texas.

Her community service includes serving as treasurer of the Heart of Texas Dock Dogs and secretary for the Alpha Pi chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity Houston Corporation.

Congratulations Amanda Rose!
