    Faculty and students attend Aggieland Saturday! 

    A group of San Jacinto College students and faculty recently traveled to Texas A&M University for Aggieland Saturday, an annual campus-wide open house for prospective students and families.

    San Jacinto College students were given tours of the campus and attended demonstrations coordinated by the various academic departments.

    Our deepest sympathies go to Robert “Behr” Tabor on the recent passing of his mother, Mrs. W.B. “Polly” Henderson.

    Mrs. Henderson ascended to her Heavenly home on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in Pasadena, Texas. She spent her life caring for an extended family and community. She will be greatly missed.

    Services will be held at a later date in South Houston, Texas, Lodge Corner, Arkansas and near her hometown in Alabama.

    Behr is a Theater Scene Shop Technician at South Campus.

    New public relations policy 

    In October of last year, the San Jacinto College Board of Trustees adopted Policy VI-J on Public Relations along with the corresponding procedures. If you have a story you would like to have considered for a news release or media pitch, please contact a member of the San Jacinto College marketing and communications team.     Photography Club meets Feb. 20 

    The San Jacinto College employee photography club will meet on Friday, Feb. 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the North Campus, in Rom 108 of the ILC.

    The employee photography club is open to all SJC employees, retirees, and spouses and children of employees (minors must be accompanied by adult guardians).

    Any who are interested in photography are welcome to attend — beginner, intermediate, advanced, any level.

    Photography club meetings are eligible for Wellness time as part of the SJC Balance U program.

    Office 365 Migration 


    San Jacinto College will soon be making the switch to Office 365 for employee email. Office 365 is a cloud based subscription service that provides Microsoft email, calendaring, Office applications and other tools used to communicate and collaborate. This move will align us with our students, who successfully made the transition in January 2014.

    What are the benefits of migrating to Office 365?

    Diabetes Awareness at South Campus

    Did you know that Diabetes affects 26 million people in the United States, but 7 million of those are undiagnosed; and an estimated 79 million adult Americans are at risk for developing the disease (source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).     South Campus kicks off Black History Month 2015 

    On Feb. 4, 2015 the San Jacinto College South Campus  celebrated the beginning of Black History Month by hosting a luncheon which embraced the theme “Sankofa”-Reaching Back to Move Forward. The word “Sankofa” is from the Akan language of Ghana and when translated into English means “reach back and get it” (san – to return; ko – to go; fa – to look, to seek and take).  As people arrived, a presentation filled with various facts about the positive contributions of African Americans to our society was on display.     Congratulations to Sherry Mays on the birth of her new granddaughter, Hannah Brielle. Hannah was born on January 18th to her daughter and son in law, Melissa and James Tittle, weighing 9 lbs. and 6 oz.     Health and Wellness Clinic Open House 

    San Jacinto College employees:

    Did you know the College operates a health and wellness clinic that provides various medical and wellness services for all San Jacinto College students and employees? Please drop by the upcoming open house and check it out.

    What: Health/wellness clinic open house

    When: Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

    Where: North Campus, 5800 Uvalde Road; Building 7 (Burleson), Room 150

    Activities: Demonstrations of health screenings, medical exams, first aid, etc.

    What else: Light refreshments; come and go as schedule permits. The open house is free, and open to the public.
