Facilities Organization Completes Realignment

On behalf of Bryan Jones

October 2014

Beginning October 6th, the Facilities & Construction department will be repositioning itself to better serve its customers through an internal restructure of the organization.  The new organization, now known as Facilities Services, will consist of five departments.  These are:

·         Energy & Controls – Manages the $5 million annual expenditure for utilities systems and energy procurement required to operate all College facilities and environmental control systems
·         Project Planning & Development – Manages facilities master planning, property acquisition, and development of new building & campus facilities assets
·         Construction Services – Assures compliant designs, manages renovation and construction processes, and assures value in delivery of facilities construction
·         Facilities Operations – Manages maintenance crafts & skilled trades (plumbing, air conditioning, electrical, painting, landscape, etc.), housekeeping, and related services for assuring safe, effective and timely repair of facilities
·         Facilities Support Services– Manages facilities procedure development, regulatory compliance, personnel training, access control, vehicle inventory, and logistical support

Leading these new departments will be Don Netherton – Director of Energy & Systems Controls, Bill Dowell – Director of Facilities Planning & Development, Larry Logsdon – Director of Construction Services, Ron Andell – Director of Facilities Operations, and John Maslonka – Director of Facilities Support Services.

Serving students and employees across four campuses, 2.7 million square feet within 66 buildings, our goal is to provide constantly improving learning environments that are safe, comfortable and efficient.  This realignment will allow us to better meet these goals.  While the basic paths for completing our work remain the same, the intermediate processes will be changing over the coming months.

All facilities, maintenance and housekeeping work requests will be received in the same manner as before the realignment.  Please email maintenance/housekeeping/meeting set-up requests to Maintenace.Request@sjcd.edu.  Renovation and large project requests may initiated by sending an email to Facilities@sjcd.edu.  All urgent requests should be reported by calling 281-476-1854.

Thank you,

Bryan Jones
