Balance U at San Jacinto College

The Wellness information you have been waiting for is here! Wellness is now called Balance U, and we are implementing Phase I of our new program this semester.  We are very excited to present to you a comprehensive list of all Balance U activities offered for 2014 Spring semester for all three campuses.

You will find that our registration procedures have changed.  We hope that once you get through the initial registration changes you will see all the great wellness benefits coming your way. Our tendency many times is to hold on to how “we use to do it.” Please know that we will not be using the old Wellness Release Time forms from the past.  Registration is quick and easy and provides a great way to validate participation.

Self-registration for Balance U wellness activities is now open in SPARK. (From the SPARK catalog, search for “WLNS” ). Prior to registering for a Balance U activity all employees shall ensure that their daily work schedule is covered to allow time away from their office. Your supervisor will receive a copy of your registration confirmation.  Employees should understand that though they have registered for a wellness activity there may be times that their schedule will not allow participation.  Attendance is taken for validation of your participation.

    Payroll Requirements
For faculty, wellness activities should be taken during college service hours and listed on their daily schedules.

For non-exempt employees, when clocking out for wellness activities you must enter the SPARK course number in the comment section of online payroll timesheet.

You will also find information (see links below) about the Spark Learning Management System and a How to Navigate.  Please note:  If you experience problems registering for an Open Activity, please email ginger.lambert@sjcd.edu to be manually registered in the requested course.

Please contact a Balance U campus coordinator if you have any questions.  We all look forward to a happy and healthy 2014!

Wind chill index readings of 15 to 25 degrees are likely on Monday morning and temperatures may struggle to rise into the lower 40s on Monday.
