Department wellness challenge gets members moving!

Members of the South Campus enrollment management and banner success teams are taking on a department wellness challenge.  The challenge at hand is to see which team member can get the most wellness minutes each week. South Campus physical education faculty, Judy Harrison, took body composition and weight starting measurements with each participant. In December, members will compare physical results with their August numbers to determine the winner.

“Any activity that involves you getting up and moving counts,” said challenge organizer, Denise Davidson. “A lot of us are at our desks every day. Once you start to make time for wellness, you will definitely see improvements- beginning with your energy level.” Davidson, a former P.E. teacher, keeps the motivation going in the department. With 90 percent participation, it seems to be working.

“We have group challenges and individual challenges,” said Davidson.  “We hope we can inspire other departments to do the same. We have a great College wellness program and so many fun activities at each campus, so keeping active is easy and convenient.”

In January the College will roll out its Balance U program.  Check the Watercooler for more details in the coming months.
