David Joe Blacksmith
December 6, 1955 to August 27, 2013

David was born on December 6, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1974. He worked for Harris County, Paktank and finishing his work career at Celanese for almost 30 years. David was an avid sports fanatic: Softball, Bowling, Football – Watching and Participating. He also really enjoyed NASCAR. One of his favorite activities was fishing. Did not matter where or when, on a bank or in a boat. He loved to be outdoors fishing, camping and playing.

David’s Favorite activity was being a dad to his two children, Michael Joseph Blacksmith and Emily Kathryn Blacksmith Browder. He was always involved with whatever activity they were in. Whether it was coaching baseball or softball, watching them play football or dance, he was there. He was so proud of the abilities his children had. He would play catch for hours with Michael always trying to help him become better. David even danced on the Deer Park High School Football Field for father/daughter night with Emily sharing his high kick ability with her and all the fans. David was most proud, of the fact, that they went to college and graduated. He would be so very proud of how they have grown to be the Wonderful adults they are.

David was preceded in death by his mom Shirley Ann Kelsey Blacksmith in October 2012. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his dad Harold Junior Blacksmith; wife of 32 years Julie Miller Blacksmith; son Michael Joseph Blacksmith; daughter Emily Kathyrn Browder Blacksmith and husband Jamie Browder and Grandson Bryson Wray Browder; brother Larry Dale Blacksmith and wife Cirena; five nephews: John Casen Miller, Christopher Blacksmith, Cole Miller, Matthew Blacksmith, Jake Miller; two nieces: Jennifer Miller and Natalie Blacksmith; along with many other loving family members and friends.

David was a quiet and caring man, wonderful son and brother, loving husband and dad and giving friend to so many. His quick smile and giving heart will truly be missed.
