Victor Wooten concert at San Jacinto College Oct. 2

Five-time Grammy award winner, Victor Wooten, is coming to San Jacinto College for a one-night performance on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Wooten will perform new music from his upcoming two albums and will feature songs from his earlier releases, as well as original music from members of his band. Known as “the Michael Jordan of the bass,” Wooten has shared the stage with such artists as The Dave Matthews Band, Prince, India Arie, Bruce Hornsby, and Chick Corea. He is a founding member of the super-group Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and released his first solo project in 1996 with “A Show of Hands,” which carried the reputation as one of the most important bass records of all time with only a four-string bass and no multi-tracking. He recently formed his own record label, Vix Records.

Wooten will take the stage at 8 p.m. in Slocomb Auditorium. Tickets are on sale now for $30 and will sell for $35 during the night of the performance. San Jacinto College students with a valid ID may purchase tickets for $15.

This event is sponsored by the San Jacinto College Foundation and the Audio Engineering Organization. All proceeds will go to the Brittany Williams Scholarship Fund, which pays tuition for audio engineering students. Reserved seating may be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/261881. For more information, visit http://www.sanjac.edu/wooten.
