  Shuttlebration Begins this Weekend on Clear Lake 

  (Information about this weekend’s community Shuttlebration on Clear Lake)

  This weekend, beginning Friday, June 1, Space Center Houston, in partnership with other private and government agencies, will be coordinating the arrival of a full-size, space shuttle mock-up at their facility.

  The model will transit the Houston Ship Channel and enter Clear Lake sometime early Friday afternoon. On Sunday, June 3, the model will be moved on NASA Parkway to its new home on the grounds of Space Center Houston. (More …)

  Thank you Dr. Bailey 

  Dr. Richard Bailey, North Campus vice president for learning, got a lot of much-deserved thanks during a recent surprise appreciation party, staged at the North Campus child development laboratory school and childcare center.

  Once a month for the past six months, Dr. Bailey has been spending an hour of quality educational time with young children who are part of the Head Start program at the childcare center. During his visits, he reads from selected books and interacts with the children, bringing to life the stories in the books, and instilling a love for reading to his little listeners. (More …)

  Student and dean take to the stage June 1 

  Rett Lee and Scott Furtwengler will share the stage at The Jet Lounge on June 1.

  Furtwengler is the San Jacinto College (SJC) honors dean, while Lee is a SJC student studying audio engineering. The two will perform as the Silver Spring Monkeys, an alternative/ indie rock/ post punk band whose first release, “That Dog’s Dream,” is currently available on iTunes. (More …)

  Response to Ants and Insect Pests at San Jacinto College 

  During the last few weeks, the Houston area has been experiencing much greater than normal ant activity.  Both fire ants and the new Rasberry Crazy Ants are invading homes and businesses across the area, including our San Jacinto College facilities. (More …)

  Students to get new, improved ID management system 

  On May 26 the College will introduce a new Identity Automation system that will provide students with a simple, user-friendly interface for creating or updating their usernames and passwords, and for managing their account security questions.

  A helpful instructive video about the new, improved Identity Automation system is now available at:

  Condolences: James Monroe Pinegar 

  James Monroe Pinegar, 86, of Gregory, Ark. passed away on May 2, 2012.  He was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Step Rock, Ark., to Ethyl and Clifton Pinegar.  He was a longtime member of Gregory Baptist Church. (More …)
