Grand opening showcases Welcome Center

There was a large turnout at the recent grand opening of the new North Campus Welcome Center, which began operations at the start of the Spring semester.

The facility provides a convenient “one-stop shop” for student services such as testing and assessment, educational planning and counseling, career and employment assistance, First Year Experience programs, disability services, enrollment services, business office, and financial aid assistance. In addition, the campus president, vice president of learning, dean of student development, and dean of enrollment services are housed at the Welcome Center.

With a centralized location for important services, students can now complete their admission application, apply for financial aid, take placement tests, meet with educational planners, receive career guidance, participate in first year experience programs, and make payments  all in one convenient location.

“This is an important step to helping our students succeed,” commented Chancellor Dr. Brenda Hellyer. “It’s projects like this that will enable San Jacinto College to continue to serve our community’s educational and workforce training needs. This building is a vital tool to help us better assist and prepare our students.”

Kudos to all the dedicated employees who helped to coordinate and to assist in the grand opening events, including Janet Cowey, Charlotte Jackson, Amy Ammerman, Clare Iannelli, Danette Conaway, Josh Johnson, Rob Vanya, Donna Jones, Don Spies, Dr. Richard Bailey, Dana Perrodin, Amanda Booren, Andrea Mitchen, and Dr. Randy Snyder.
