    Students put 'giving' in Thanksgiving

The North Campus Pharmacy Technician Club officers organized a Thanksgiving Walk in which they adopted two families for Thanksgiving.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the students were able to feed four additional families from the overflow of food items.

“What a great blessing and feeling to be able to give back to our communities,” commented Shalonica Cluse, the faculty advisor of the club.

Shown in the photo are students Ashley Radke, Brittany Watkins, and Desare Arrington.

    San Jac honors veterans

All three campuses recently hosted Veterans Day events to honor military personnel.

The South Campus ceremony was on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the J.D. Bruce Student Center. The Dobie High School ROTC presented the flags, and there was a choir performance. The movie “Taking Chance” was presented.

The North Campus ceremony was held on Friday, Nov. 11 at the Dr. Charles Grant Fine Arts Center courtyard. The North Shore High School ROTC served as Color Guard. There was be a flag-raising ceremony, and the National Anthem was performed. The ceremony concluded with a roll call of military personnel who served during various armed conflicts.

The Central Campus event was held on Friday, Nov. 11 in the Interactive Learning Center. Local vendors had information booths on display, and there was a reception for veterans that included refreshments.

Kudos to all the employees who helped to make the events successful, and especially the Veterans Success Coordinators — Alex Sanchez (Central); Eugene Bernard (South); and Melanie Neill (North).
