Students learn of geology through service learning

San Jacinto College geology professor Sharon Choens and 55 students recently participated in the School Daze Earth Science Program at the annual Houston Gem and Mineral Show at the Humble Civic Center.  The students assisted public, private and homeschoolers on a TEKS scavenger hunt.  Upon completion of the scavenger hunt, the team helped hand out free mineral and rock kits for the classroom. Students also assisted with the Dino Dig, a favorite of all the students.

In Spring 2011, SJC Central campus geology students will participate in science learning at the Earth Science Activity area of the Clear Lake Gem and Mineral Show.
