Become an organ donor and help the grandson of one of our own

Jonathon Comstock is the grandson of Susan Bremer, administrative assistant for dual credit at the Central campus.

Susan Bremer, administrative assistant for the dual credit program at the Central campus, and her family need the help of the San Jac community. In January, her 23-year-old grandson Jonathon Comstock, was diagnosed with a previously undetected disease which has destroyed his kidneys. As a result, the Boston College student is at Houston’s Methodist Hospital awaiting a transplant. He is on dialysis three days a week, every week until a donor can be found. Jonathon is an only child, and his mother is also an only child; therefore, the family donor pool is not very large.

    Congratulations, Rosy and Linda!

Linda Perez, information management liaison business analyst, has been elected to the Texas Association of Institutional Research (TAIR) Nominating Committee. Her colleague, Rosy Bynum, senior research analyst, will serve on a TAIR committee of her choosing for the upcoming year.
This is great news and exposure on the state level for our Office of Research and Institutional Effectiveness. During the last two years, director George Gonzalez served as track chair with the national Association of Institutional Research (AIR) and serves on the national membership committee as the community college representative for two terms of three years each through 2012.

“Our office is gaining some exposure and making important connections with other institutional research professionals on the state and national levels,” said George.

Way to go, Office of Research and Institutional Effectiveness!

    Linda Perez

A new (sort of) face in Continuing and Professional Development

At the regularly scheduled meeting of the San Jacinto College Board of Trustees on Monday, March 1, 2010, the Board approved personnel actions related to a reorganization of the Continuing and Professional Development (CPD) Department. As many of you may already know, Dr. Sarah Janes left her position as academic dean at the North campus last August to help CPD with several important initiatives that were under way. Since that time, CPD has seen a number of changes in staffing, and those changes have afforded the College an opportunity to reorganize to improve efficiency and launch several new important projects. Dr. Janes has performed extremely well during her time in CPD, and she has been asked to continue her employment there in a permanent position. The College is happy to report that she has accepted the position of  Vice President of Continuing  and Professional Development.

    Congratulations Dr. Janes!
