San Jacinto College ranks 40th in the nation as an associate degree producer, according to a 2009 report of the Top
100 degree and certificate producing two-year institutions.
The College also ranks 39th in awarding degrees to minority students and 44th on granting two-year certificates.
Each year, Community College Week magazine releases a report on the nation’s community colleges, ranking the
Top 100 or the Top 50 based on data gathered from the United States Department of Education. There are more
than 1,000 community colleges nationwide, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.
“San Jacinto offers top quality technical programs and equally strong academic transfer programs,” said Dr.
Catherine O’Brien
, dean of teaching and learning at San Jacinto College. “Our partnerships with business and
industry help us to keep current in the workforce. We also recognize that an educated population is essential to a
good economy.”
San Jacinto College made last year’s report as well and ranks high on the following Top 50 associate degree lists for
the current year, which also includes four-year institutions.

  • Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services: No. 28
  • Family and Consumer Sciences/Human Sciences: No. 12
  • Health Professions and Related Clinical Sciences: No. 31
  • Nursing: No. 39
  • Science Technologies/Technicians: No. 5

as the support services that students need in order to succeed and reach their career and personal goals,” said Dr.
