Recruiting office recaps February events

February was a busy month for the office of recruiting with two major events: Counselor Connection and the Houston Hispanic Forum (HHF). These events play an important role in recruiting’s ongoing efforts to connect with prospective students.
Counselor Connection is an event hosted by the office of recruiting open to counselors and community based organizations throughout the Greater Houston area. The participants are invited to the College for a day of presentations and information about San Jacinto College they can then share with their students. The event this year was at the Maritime campus. Visitors were able to hear directly from Maritime faculty, tour the facility, experience the simulator, and hear about College-wide building updates. Counselors and community based organizations are a crucial part of our success in reaching potential students so we are always happy to welcome them to campus.
The Houston Hispanic Forum is a city-wide community event held at the George R. Brown Convention Center each February. HHF sees more than 10,000 participants with students and their families as well as teachers and counselors attending from across the Greater Houston area. Each year the Office of Recruiting attends to share information about the College, our programs, financial aid, and more. This year, Recruiting was joined by over a dozen departments. This was the largest showing of San Jacinto College at HHF. As Dr. Williamson said, “It was more our own exhibition hall than a booth.”
