Please welcome our newest full-time counselor on South

Bernadina Streeter

Bernadina Gonzales Streeter joins the San Jacinto College South campus as an international counselor.  She brings 16 years of higher education experience through various positions held throughout Houston.  Her career began as a recruiter for the University of Houston, proceeded by serving as Texas A&M University’s director for the collaborative college prep University Outreach program with the University of Texas at Austin.

While earning her master’s degree in counseling from UH, Bernadina coordinated the university’s Intercultural and International Student Services Celebrating Our Elders scholarship project. She became familiar with San Jac in 2002 as an intern and again, as a part-time advisor in 2006.

Before coming aboard full time at SJC, she served as a counselor for Lone Star College. Bernadina also holds a bachelor’s degree in radio and television with a minor in Mexican American studies from UH.

She is married with two children, a cat and a gold fish.

“Looking back on my career, the thing that excites me the most is helping students achieve their dreams,” says Bernadina.
