Pasadena Chamber of Commerce selects San Jacinto College as 2018 Business of the Year

The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce has selected San Jacinto College as its 2018 Business of the Year. The College was honored at the annual State of the City luncheon on Feb. 15, 2018.

“I am honored to accept the recognition as the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year on behalf of San Jacinto College, our Board of Trustees, our employees and our students,” said Chancellor Dr. Brenda Hellyer. “San Jacinto College has been a part of this community for more than 50 years, and student success has always been the focus of what we do every day. Whatever goals our students have, we have the support to help them along their path so that they can earn their certificate or associate degree. I want to thank the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and its Board of Directors for recognizing San Jacinto College as its business of the year.”

More than 700 business and community leaders attended the Chamber’s annual State of the City luncheon, where the College was recognized for its support of and commitment to the City of Pasadena. Last year’s Business of the Year recipient, Mariselle Quijano, McDonald’s franchise owner, presented Dr. Hellyer and San Jacinto College Board of Trustees members with the award. In addition, U.S. Congressman Brian Babin, the Texas Senate and House of Representatives, Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Jack Morman, and the City of Pasadena presented the College with proclamations and recognitions for the honor.
