Open house marks opening of new child care center at North campus

The North campus recently hosted an open house and ribbon cutting to mark the opening of the new Charles Ray Ogden Children and Family Education Center-Lab School building.

The open house featured guided tours, multi-media presentations, live music, and light refreshments. The new 9,669-square-feet facility is located on the north side of the North campus.

Guests were welcomed by Kathy Greenway, director of the child care center-lab school, and Christine Ortiz-Gatlin, the North campus child development/early childhood education program director.

The new center includes classrooms, offices, a kitchen, a teacher workroom, a multi-purpose room, and a playground. The facility serves a dual purpose — to provide child care services for students and employees of the North campus, and to serve as a learning environment where North campus child development students can gain valuable hands-on experience in every facet of full-service child care.
