Kayt Sukel to discuss ‘The Science Behind the Search for Love’

Lyceum Cmte_Spring_2013

Nationally acclaimed science writer, Kayt Sukel, will discuss the science behind love in two lectures at the San Jacinto College South Campus on Wednesday, Apr. 10, hosted by the South Campus Lyceum Committee.

Sukel has no problem tackling interesting, and often taboo, subjects spanning love, sex, neuroscience, travel, and politics. Her first book, “This is Your Brain on Sex: The Science Behind the Search for Love,” takes on the age-old question, “What is love?” from a neurobiological perspective and offers readers a new take on that crazy little thing called love.

Sukel’s morning lecture, “The Trouble with Women and Science (or Why Aren’t More Women Pursuing STEM Careers?),” will take place on Wednesday, Apr. 10, at 10 a.m. with a book signing to follow. San Jacinto College students, faculty, staff, and local area high school students are encouraged to attend.

Her evening lecture, “This is Your Brain on Sex: The Science Behind the Search for Love,” will take place at 7 p.m. with a reception and book signing to follow. Books will be available for purchase in the theatre lobby after both lectures, with cash and credit cards accepted.

All lectures will be presented in the Proscenium Theatre in the Marie Spence Flickinger Fine Arts Center, located on the San Jacinto College South Campus. Both lectures are free and open to San Jacinto College students and the public.
