Girl Scouts go on geology scavenger hunt at Central!

Girl Scouts troop 26247 recently visited the Central Campus science building, where geology professors Malcolm Sadler and Karen Purpera helped them search for dinosaur fossils and various types of rocks during a geology scavenger hunt.

The scouts were each given a checklist that included black coal, fluorite crystals, cave formations, petrified wood, and fossils. They also learned how to navigate courses by using a compass and how to examine items under a microscope. The scouts were rewarded for their hard work with a Girl Scouts badge and their very own fluorite crystals. Officer Lakeita Carr also gave the scouts San Jacinto College bags, on behalf of the San Jacinto College Police Department.
