Flu shots are coming to a campus near you!

FLU SHOTS ARE HERE!!

We will be out on campus beginning this week administering seasonal flu vaccinations for all employees and students. Flu vaccinations are free for all full-time and part-time staff and faculty. For students and family members 10 years of age and older, the cost is $20. This year the flu vaccinations will be administered by our very own SJC nursing students. This is a great opportunity for these students and we are pleased to have the help and support of our nursing departments.

For your convenience, here are the required release form in English and Spanish.  Also, part-time employees are required to provide proof of current employment.  The Part-Time Employee Departmental Approval Form must be signed by a full-time supervisor before a flu vaccination can be received.  Please note, individuals under 18 must have release form signed by a parent or guardian. There is also a flyer that you can download and be post in offices and classrooms that lists the dates, times, and locations we will be administering the vaccine.

The fact sheet from the Department of Health and Human Services – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Please read this information to gain an understanding of the risks and benefits of the Influenza vaccination 2010-2011.  Please notice that the document does indicate that “People who got the 2009 H1N1 (pandemic) influenza vaccine, or had pandemic flu in 2009, should still get the 2010-2011 seasonal influenza vaccine.” In addition, the 2010 – 2011 vaccine provides protection against both the seasonal flu and the H1N1 pandemic flu.
