A full week ahead with volleyball and soccer!

Fall 2016 is here, and that means it’s time to come out to the games at San Jac! Labor Day weekend provides a full schedule for San Jac volleyball and soccer.

The volleyball team will host its annual Military Appreciation Volleyball Tournament at the Central Campus. Games start on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 3-7 p.m., and continue on Friday, Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 pm. There will be 12 teams from across the country competing.

A reception, with food sponsors that include Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen and H-E-B, is scheduled from 1-2:30 p.m. for military service members and their families. Service men and women will be honored on Saturday, Sept. 3, during a veteran recognition ceremony in between games at 2:30 p.m. During that afternoon, a Bell UH-1V Iroquois “Huey” helicopter will land on the Central Campus courtyard and be available for photo opportunities. Music and tailgating activities will take place throughout the three days with food vendors that include the Pita Pit, Smoothie King and Smashburger.

Admission to the Military Appreciation Volleyball Tournament will be free for military veterans with ID and for children 8 years old and younger. General admission will range from $10 to $15, and San Jacinto College student admission with ID will range from $5 to $10. Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Camp Hope, which provides interim housing for our Wounded Warriors, veterans and their families suffering from combat-related post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The soccer team will host games at the South Campus starting with a match against Angelina College at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1. They’ll face Mountain View College at 7 p.m on Saturday, Sept. 3.
