    Condolences

Our deepest sympathies go to Nicholas Malavis on the recent passing of his mother, Jennie.

Jennie Malavis was born on February 15, 1920 in Muskogee, OK.  On Saturday, September 1, 2018, she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. She was 98 years of age.

Jennie was an accomplished pianist;  she taught piano lessons and played the organ at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Holdenville, OK.  After hearing her play, the dean of music at Oklahoma City University awarded her a piano scholarship, where she was named “Nicest Girl” in the university yearbook, along with many other honors.  Her freshman year she performed with the Kansas City Conservatory of Music Orchestra – one of her defining moments.  She will be remembered for her compassion, positive attitude, devotion to God and family, passion for life and her love and support of animals.  She upheld and exuded the highest moral character and ethical conduct. She saw the good in everyone and she inspired and appreciated everyone she knew. Her bright smile and twinkling eyes abided in a humble and unassuming countenance – she had a presence without saying a word.

She is survived by her son, Nicholas George Malavis, of Houston, TX, her daughter, Ellie Joyce Malavis (fiancé, Randol Rodgers), Houston; her beloved sister, Lillie Drossos of Dallas, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many other friends and family.

Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, September 10, 2018, at St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
