Kudos to North Campus HVAC instructor Ben Ficklin for coordinating an electrical safety presentation for faculty, staff, and students of the College’s HVAC and electrical technology programs.

Greg Dietrich, a longtime safety specialist with CenterPoint Energy, was the keynote speaker. The group surprised Mr. Dietrich with cake and punch to commemorate his retirement, and his final safety presentation.

Mr. Dietrich earned an associate degree from San Jacinto College in 1982, and has been involved in safety presentations at the College from time to time. He also taught a motorcycle training course at the North and Central campuses.

Mr. Dietrich has worked for CenterPoint Energy for over 43 years, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, and a Certified Safety Professional.

He was appreciative of the farewell token of gratitude. “The cake you brought for my retirement and final meeting, which I am proud to have done at San Jacinto College, was an unexpected surprise and one of the nicest things that has ever happened to me,” he commented. “I cannot thank you enough.”
