UBMS recognized

The Board of Trustees recently recognized Jacqueline Howard, director of the Upward Bound Math and Science program, for her leadership and dedication.

Based on a successful track record, a federal grant was recently renewed that will fund UBMS at the North Campus for another five-year cycle.

UBMS is a collaboration between the College and high schools in the Channelview, Sheldon, and Galena Park independent school districts. Selected students from the schools are piloted through their high school years, beginning in the ninth grade, and are encouraged to pursue postsecondary degrees in math and science.

With Howard (holding the recognition certificate) are Dr. Sarah Janes, and Serita Dickey (who helped Howard apply for the initial UBMS grant), and Dr. Allatia Harris, president of the North Campus.
