North Campus language instructors Myrna Gonzalez and Maria Williams recently accompanied English for Speakers of Other Languages students to a celebration luncheon to recognize the academic accomplishments of the students, which include:

• Isabel Torres attended the Marque Learning Center and recently received her high school diploma. Isabel’s son, Arturo Totomoch, is an instructional aide at SJC, and his father, Gregorio Totomoch, is a former SJC student.

• Betzaida Sosa returned to C.E. King High School in the fall to re-take her TAKS-EXIT tests, and she passed them all to receive her high school diploma in December.

• Azucena Banda is a student in the North Campus Pastry Chef Program and recently passed her sanitation & safety exam.

• Ana Karen Cruz works as a server at the restaurant, and earned her boss’ favor by bringing in a large lunch crowd. However, all were benefactors as the meal was “delicioso.”

• All the students are passing their ESOL composition class with flying colors. “A quote from Cesar Chavez: ‘Si, se puede’ says it all,” commented Maria Williams. “Yes, one can, and we believe so 100 percent.”
