Congratulations Gray and Curry!

Congratulations to Sherry Gray (pictured left) and Sandra Curry (pictured right) for their recent achievements recognized at the Texas Educational Support Staff Association (TESA) Summer Work Conference in Frisco, Texas.

Gray won second place for the association’s newsletter, “The Notepad.”  Gray has been the newsletter editor for the last five years. TESA affiliates are allowed to enter one of their newsletters from the last year into the newsletter competition, which are given to a panel of judges from outside TESA and are chosen by the Awards/Scholarships/Journalist Committee.  San Jacinto College’s membership has received first, second, or third place for over 12 years.  “It is an honor to represent San Jacinto College by winning this award as editor of ‘The Notepad,’” said Gray.  “I always enjoy creating an informative, enjoyable piece for members.”

Curry received her Certified Educational Office Professional (CEOP) certification in the association’s graduation ceremony. TESA offers the Staff Training for Effective Management (STEM) program, which requires participants to complete 60 hours of training, followed by a formal application for the CEOP certification upon completion.  “The STEM classes provided me with valuable information to enhance my professional skills, remind me of the importance of having a positive attitude in the office, and to encourage professional demeanor in all job related roles of San Jacinto College,” she said. “I want others to become involved in TESA because it is an organization that will allow each participant to grow to become a valuable asset for the San Jacinto College District.”
