A show of unity

To commemorate the  150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s March on Washington, a large group of San Jacinto College faculty, staff, and students recently staged a march at the Central Campus.

The event included formation of a large “1” to symbolize unity. After the march, the group gathered in the student center for a reception that included light refreshments.

Kudos to those who planned and coordinated the event, which is part of several events the College is hosting during February to commemorate African-American History Month —
