Welcome Michael Kane to the Central campus

San Jacinto College is pleased to welcome Michael F. Kane, the newest technical education dean at the Central campus.

As dean of business and technology, Kane will oversee such areas as the real estate program, information technology, business management, and interior design. He is one of two technical education deans; Dr. Steven Horton serves as dean of industrial and applied technology.

Kane is originally from upstate New York and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Tulsa, a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice and Police Administration from Sam Houston State University, and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston in Victoria.

He has more than 34 years experience in the criminal justice system, in positions as either a practitioner or educator; 26 years as a supervisor/administrator over criminal justice faculty at Coastal Bend College; and law enforcement experience with Harris County Sheriff’s office, Rice University and Metropolitan Transit Authority.

Kane has been recognized by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Coastal Bend College. He is a licensed peace officer for the State of Texas and a Texas Peace Officer Certified instructor.

“I hope to bring my knowledge and experience in education to San Jacinto College,” said Kane. “I also hope to gain experience at a larger district and bring a different viewpoint of administering post secondary education.”
