CANstruction Competition raises TONS for campus food pantries

‘Tis the season of giving, and this year 16 teams from across the College joined in the CANstruction competition in an effort to collect canned food items for the Central, North and South Campus food pantries. Each team held canned food drives in order to supplement their construction materials. In collaboration with the College’s veteran centers, each team was tasked with creating a structural piece of art with a military/veteran theme using the canned and dried food items donated, with all items being donated directly to the campus food pantries. The finished products were truly a sight to see! In total, the CANstruction teams raised 4,592 pounds of food for the campus food pantries. Congratulations to the team winners, and an overall THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the event and/or donated to this amazing cause. Check out some photos of these creative structures, and see more photos here.

    Website Search Tool Updated

    Good afternoon San Jacinto College,

The marketing department, in collaboration with the IT department, has implemented a new search platform on the College website, sanjac.edu. The only visible change you will notice is alternate search suggestions at the top of the search results page, with the heading “Did you mean.” The purpose of this change is to improve upon relevant search results when using the College website. The new platform will allow for more customization and editing of search results. Please report any technical errors you might encounter to IT by sending an email to techsupport@sjcd.edu. We will continue to monitor and analyze search results to provide the best experience possible.

    Meet Samantha Davis

The marketing, public relations and government affairs department would like to welcome and introduce Samantha Davis as our new senior executive administrative assistant.

Samantha earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Rhetoric with a minor in Psychology from Texas A&M University in three years while maintaining a scholarship, campus involvement and a part-time job.  She definitely knows how to multi-task!

She and her husband recently relocated to Houston from Florida where she served the President and Vice President of Academic Affairs in administrative support.  She is familiar with Banner and the role of a senior executive assistant. She enjoys reading and writing, and as a collaborator she has that “How can I help?” attitude.

Please join us in welcoming Samantha to the San Jacinto College marketing team. Please feel free to stop by and say hello! You can reach her at 291-998-6152 or via email at samantha.davis@sjcd.edu.  Please also be sure to copy her on all Public Information Requests as she is assisting Teri Crawford with that function.

We know that she is eager to hit the ground running and is looking forward to working with all of us here at San Jacinto College.
