A group of Central campus employees recently welcomed Dr. Barbara Hanson at a reception staged at the Lee Davis library. Dr. Hanson was recently named to the key position of vice president of instruction at the Central campus. She will coordinate and oversee the Central campus’ academic and technical credit programs.

Hanson has 24 years of experience in higher education, 21 in community college administration. She most recently served as the vice president of instruction at Cape Fear Community College, a two-campus college in Wilmington, North Carolina. She had oversight of all of the college’s credit and non-credit instructional programs, as well as a number of support services, such as library and media services, distance learning, high school programs, cooperative education and service learning programs.

Central campus President Dr. Neil Matkin says the veteran educator will be a great addition to the College’s leadership team. “Dr. Hanson was chosen through a comprehensive national search, and the campus community is excited to have her join our team. She will fill a vital role at the Central campus and help us provide the best possible services to our students.”
