The College recently welcomed Stephen Trncak aboard as vice chancellor of human resources, a man highly recommended and who has extensive experience in the field.

As vice president for human resources at Merisol USA LLC, a position he held for the past 14 years, Trncak was accountable for the creation and articulation of the company’s human resources strategic plan, which he accomplished through the introduction of strategic alignment around the company purpose, values, talent development, culture creation, organizational structure, technology, process designs, performance metrics, accountability, and communications. Trncak has also held human resources management positions with Merichem Company, Panhandle Eastern Corporation, and Dixilyn-Field Drilling Company, through which he has gained a broad-based understanding of human resources issues and developments. In all, he has more than 25 years of human resources experience in the chemical, drilling and natural gas industries.

“I am pleased to have Steve join our leadership staff,” said Chancellor Dr. Brenda Hellyer. “He brings extensive knowledge and talent in developing and leading the human resource department of large organizations. He has already played a vital role in the development and roll-out of our new performance management system, and will continue to help us develop and improve our strategic focus on human capital within San Jacinto College. We want to be more strategic in how we recruit, retain, and develop employees, and Steve’s expertise is important to that focus.”

Trncak lives in Pasadena and graduated from Pasadena High School in 1971. He attended Texas Tech University (TTU) on a basketball scholarship, and was a member of the 1973 TTU basketball team that won the Southwest Conference championship. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech. His wife, Barbara, is a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines. The Trncaks have an adult son and daughter, both graduates of Texas A&M University.
