    San Jacinto College 2013 Soccer Season 

    San Jacinto College is ready for another great soccer season. The Coyotes will open the regular season on Aug. 24-25 in Perkinston, Miss. against Brevard Community College and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The home opener is Aug. 31st against Ranger College.

    Upward Bound group helps in tornado recovery effort

    North Campus Upward Bound students and staff members did something out of the ordinary to culminate their recent summer session. The group typically visits a university campus at the end of the six-week session. This year, they pitched in to help out in a worthy cause – traveling to central Oklahoma to take part in ongoing recovery efforts from the devastating tornadoes that struck the area in May.       Congratulations Dr. Janes!!! I worked under her supervision when I was a college student at SJCN (work study program). I always felt she cared about students and always sought ways to push us towards success. She is one reason why I completed college and eventually a MS in Education. I will always remember her!

    Condolences 

    Our deepest sympathies go to Brian Harmon on the recent passing of his mother, Susan Harmon.

    After a hard fought battle with cancer, Ms. Harmon died peacefully in her home with her family by her side, on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013. Services will be held at Temple Oaks Baptist Church in Houston (2101 West 34th Street) on Saturday, Aug. 17. The time is still being determined.

    Brian is a Help Desk Analyst in the ITS department.

    Our deepest sympathies to Karyn Jones on the recent passing of her grandmother, Narma Jones. Ms. Jones passed away last Friday, July 26, 2013.  A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Emanual Funeral Home in Palentine, TX. Karyn is a professional librarian on the North Campus.

    Dr. Monte Blue elected as new chair of TCC Board of Regents 

    Blue, Dr. Monte

    Monte Blue, Ed.D., past president of San Jacinto College Central Campus, was elected the new chairman of the Texas Chiropractic College Board of Regents during the biennial officer elections on July 20, 2013. The summer meeting of the Regents was held in conjunction with TCC’s annual homecoming and convention activities in Galveston, Texas.

    Dr. Blue joined the Board of Regents in 2008 and is joined on the executive committee by Larry C. Johnson, vice chairman; Ken Cauthorn, treasurer; L. Bert Williams, D.C., secretary; and Armando Baños-Alvarez D.C., M.D., at-large. Johnson previously served the executive committee as treasurer. (More …)
