Upon acceptance or hire to San Jacinto College, employees and students are provided access to the College network so they can view, save, and share materials. In addition to an Employee or Student ID (also known as the G#), a network account is generated that can be used to log into the College network and access available resources. Each network account provides access to campus computers, an official College email account, and network shares that can be used to store College-related materials.

Our Service Levels

Per the current ITS Service Level Agreement, standard accounts will be provided once an employee or contractor commences work with the College. For students, an account is generated once he/she has officially registered for a course. Requests for additional services over and above typical account allocations should be submitted in writing to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). For more information on what accounts at San Jacinto College are supplied with, please refer to the Our Standards section below.

Policies & Guidelines

San Jacinto College provides computing and networking services to San Jacinto College students and employees. Access and use of these resources are limited to authorized use only. Several guidelines are in place to protect the security and integrity of College data. Per established policies, users are responsible for managing their own password, as well as all activities performed under their account.

For more information on acceptable use, as well as ITS and user responsibilities, please refer to the following guidelines:

Student Accounts

An account for the SanJac Online System (SOS) is generated immediately upon acceptance; at which time the student is required to set up their account in order to create security questions and a password. Accounts for Blackboard, Email, and computer access are not created until after a student has registered and paid for classes.

New students will receive an email to the address provided on their application containing instructions on how to set up their account. If a student did not receive this email, he/she may visit the account set up page by visiting the Account Claim Form.

Students use their Student ID (G#) and the password created when setting up their account to log into a majority of College systems; including SOS, Blackboard, and a campus computer. Email accounts do utilize a separate password; however, students are welcome to sync their email password with their student account password by updating their account password through the Password Self-Service System.

Students can manage their account password using the Password Self-Service System, a web-based tool that allows students to reset their password or update their security questions online. Students needing to utilize this service may do so by visiting the Password Self Service System at http://www.sanjac.edu/password.
