Outlook 2010 Tip: Adjusting Navigation Pane Font

Outlook provides various options that a user can change in order to customize its look and feel. One of these options is the ability to modify the font style/size of the folders in the navigation pane.  As it turns out, this is a handy customization to have as many Outlook users have reported difficulty in seeing available folders due to the background color of the navigation pane. Having the ability to adjust the font settings allows users to better see their accounts and folders.

If you’ve encountered this issue or if you would just like to further customize your Outlook application, simply follow these steps:

  1. In Outlook, click on the View tab.
  2. From the Layout group, select Navigation Pane, and then click on Options from the menu that appears.

NOTE: You can also access the Options screen by clicking on the small down arrow in the bottom right corner of the navigation pane and selecting Navigation Pane Options from the menu.
  3. In the Navigation Pane Options dialog box, click on Font.
  4. Adjust the font style and size to your liking and then click on OK.
