This past summer, SanJac Information Technology Services (ITS) helped to equip the new Transportation Center located on the central campus. Members of Technology Facilities and Construction, Infrastructure, Desktop Support, and Customer Care all pitched in to equip the Transportation Center with network cabling, computer equipment, phones, and media equipment.
Jeff Tambrella, IT Facilities and Construction Manager led the completion of this project. He described the project as a, “unique challenge in that it houses standard teaching classrooms as well as a real world automotive environment with the twist of educational classroom mixed with it.”
The new transportation center is a 92,000 square-foot facility with its 25 adjoining class and lab rooms, 24 offices, fully-computerized multipurpose room, and manufacturers and vendors areas. Included in the construction, ITS equipped the Transportation Center with 71 computers, 22 phones.
When asked what led to a successful completion of the project, Tambrella says, “Teamwork, open forum communications, and detailed project management were the key to opening a facility of this stature.” Tambrella also praised all of the individuals involved in the project saying, “I am very proud to be part of a team that has this go to and take care of it attitude. The end results express the hard work and dedication to perfection that all of them have. “
