San Jacinto College is currently conducting a pilot of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony. This telephony solution provides telephone service over San Jacinto College’s network instead of over traditional phone lines. VoIP telephone service is very similar to traditional telephone service, except in addition to using a phone or handset, you can use software (called a “softphone”) on your desktop or laptop computer. This allows you to make and receive calls from anywhere across the district where a wired Internet connection exists. Other features include a web interface for voicemail, voicemail sent to your San Jacinto email account and call forwarding/transfer to local numbers.
