Workshops
We offer 1 to 4 hour workshops on Banner, Blackboard, MS Office topics, and various learning technologies on each campus throughout the year. Browse and register for workshops via the College’s professional development system, Avatar.
Class outlines and resources
All our class outlines, with related demonstration videos and resource documents are housed in our EdTech Training Blackboard organization site. To access the site, you must log onto Blackboard with your G number and network password and click on the EdTech Training organization link under My Organizations. Click here for the direct link (you will still need to authenticate into Blackboard). If you have not already enrolled in the organization, you’ll have a chance to self-enroll.
Open labs
We understand that it’s often difficult to learn technology at your desk. We offer Open Labs several times a month at each campus. You can bring a project to work on, bring your specific questions, play with lab software, work on a Web-based tutorial, or check out a Step-by-Step Office 2010 book from any campus library and work through the exercises where you won’t be interrupted. Browse and register for Open Labs via Avatar.
Web-based tutorials
We are busy converting many of our workshop sessions to a Web-based tutorial format to provide you with more options to learn what you need, when you need it. You will get credit for completing Web-based tutorials, just as you do for attending a workshop. Browse and register for tutorials via Avatar.
Atomic Learning videos
“There are also hundreds of Atomic Learning videos free to San Jac students, faculty and staff. Atomic Learning can be accessed through the link under the Blackboard Tools module (on the left as soon as you log into Blackboard. To access Blackboard, you must log in with your G number and network password.
Webinars
Sometimes a hands-on format is not needed to get introduced to a technology and a Webinar format can make learning much more convenient and save the college money. We will be scheduling Webinar sessions later in the Fall 2011.
Training/consultation by Request
You can request a training session for yourself or your group if you don’t see the topic offered, or offered at a location and time convenient for you. Just fill out our short Training by Request form and we’ll do our best to meet your technology learning needs!
Step-by-Step Office 2010 books
TPD has purchased a set of 8 Office 2010 Step-by-Step books for each campus library, which can be checked out for 2 weeks.
