Good afternoon San Jacinto College Community,

I am excited to announce two new programs, Alternate Work Schedule and Telecommuting, that will be effective November 1, 2016 for full-time employees.  Both programs will be piloted through August 31, 2017.

An alternate work schedule is an arrangement beyond one week that permits a variation of the employee’s starting and departure times, but does not alter the total number of hours worked in a week.

Telecommuting is a cooperative arrangement between the College and the employee in which work activities are portable and involve tasks that can effectively be performed outside the office.

The ability to participate in these programs is based on the needs of the position, work group, or department, as well as the employee’s present levels of performance. It is important to note that service to our students and employees must be uninterrupted, high quality, and efficient. We must have adequate staffing levels to ensure work continuity at all times.

If you are interested in one of these programs, please review the information on the website including the procedure and FAQ document, and discuss the options with your leader.  We look forward to a successful program as we assess the effectiveness during the pilot period.
