This is a revised closure message from San Jacinto College. Due to the heavy rains and immense floods affecting Southeast Texas, San Jacinto College will be closed through Monday, September 4, 2017. We understand that our students, employees and communities have been affected by this devastating flood event, and we want to allow time for them to recover from Tropical Storm Harvey.

Through September 4, 2017, all San Jacinto College campuses will remain closed. No one should be on campus during this time.

Classes will begin on September 5. Since we have postponed the start of the semester, students will be able to  register and pay for fall classes online through September 11. After September 5, payment will be required on the day of registration. Registration is open for Take 2 classes that begin September 11, 2017.

Employees should contact and check-in with their immediate leader / supervisor to let them know their current situation. Leaders / supervisors should let your respective Strategic Leadership Team member know the status of our employees. We already know that some have been impacted and want to obtain a better understanding of their status.

Any communication regarding the weather and the impact it may have on College operations, including class schedules and fall registration, will be distributed through email, and SJC AlertMe will be activated. Information will also be provided on the College website, on the emergency notification line at 1-888-845-5288, and through the College’s official Facebook and Twitter accounts. Employees should log in to your SJC AlertMe account and verify that their contact information is correct in order to receive notifications.

Please closely monitor the forecast as it changes daily, and have an individual plan for flooding for you and your families. Do not drive through flooded roadways. We want you to be safe and to take care of yourselves and your families. Please stay safe and heed the guidance and warnings of local authorities.
