San Jacinto College will close at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, August 25, 2017, to allow students and staff to prepare for inclement weather. The College will remain closed through Sunday, August 27. All activities and functions are canceled during this time, including Saturday on-campus registration and activities, as well as the SAT test. The College administration will continue to monitor the weather over the weekend.

Students are encouraged to register and pay for fall classes online. Registration is also open for Take 2 classes that begin on Monday, September 11, 2017.

At this time, the National Weather Service in Houston – Galveston is predicting heavy rainfall and flooding across portions of Southeast Texas beginning on Saturday and into early next week. At this time, it is not possible to predict exactly how much rain our area will receive.

San Jacinto College urges all students and employees to exercise extreme caution during this rain event. Any communication regarding the weather and the impact it may have on College operations, including class schedules and fall registration, will be distributed through email, and SJC AlertMe will be activated. Information will also be provided on the College website, on the emergency notification line at 1-888-845-5288, and through the College’s official Facebook and Twitter accounts. If you have not already done so, please log in to your SJC AlertMe account and verify that your contact information is correct.

Employees will receive a separate email regarding a closure plan.

Students and employees should closely monitor this forecast daily and have an individual plan for tropical weather and flooding for themselves and their families. Do not drive through flooded roadways. Below are resources where you can learn more.
