Dear San Jacinto College Employees,

Good afternoon! We understand that many of you are anxious to get back to the college facilities to check on the status of your areas and begin preparing for the upcoming semester, especially now that the sun is shining, but please remember that the College and all facilities are closed. We continue to evaluate and assess the facilities and clean up where needed, so it is important that all campus properties remain closed for this process. No one should be on any college location unless directed to do so by their Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) member. The SLT members are following a communication process.

We hope to begin allowing essential employees back on college properties in a phased approach once the assessment and clean up period has been completed. If requested to work, employees will be notified through their leadership after obtaining approval from their respective SLT member.  We know employees are anxious to check their offices, classrooms, and labs, but that cannot occur until we complete the cleanup period.

As a reminder, Thursday, August 31 is the end of the College’s fiscal year end. This requires the Banner system to be taken down. To this regard, please note that Banner will not be available on August 31, from noon until 1:59 a.m., on Friday, September 1. Banner will be opened for registration again at 2 a.m., on September 1, 2017.

Thank you all for your concerns and dedication to San Jacinto College. Part of the culture of the San Jacinto College community is the desire to help and serve others.  We know many of our employees have been impacted by Harvey so feel free to reach out to other employees to personally assist them if you can safely. Additionally, there are volunteer opportunities in our surrounding communities.  Additional information has been emailed to you and will be posted on our website about those opportunities.

Finally, later today, the San Jacinto College Foundation will be rolling out the SJC Student and Employee Emergency Relief Fund to provide an opportunity for others to help those affected by this devastating storm. As the Foundation receives donations, a process for application for and disbursement of  funds will be developed with the understanding that the entire process is  contingent on how much is collected  through the donation process.

Stay safe!

Thank you.
