Good Afternoon San Jacinto College Community,

Today I want to give you an update regarding the closure of our volleyball, soccer, and men’s and women’s basketball programs, a decision that was made a little over a year ago. Our volleyball and soccer teams have completed their competitive play, and athletes are focused on their studies and training as they prepare to transfer to other institutions in the fall of 2018. Our basketball teams are in their competitive season and doing well, academically and competitively.

Strategic Leadership Team members, working with Human Resources, have spent the past year reviewing staffing in various programs and finding options and opportunities for employees whose jobs are affected by the decision to close programs. We have reviewed employees’ qualifications, transcripts, work histories, and other related experiences for various positions that are open or will soon become available at the College.

Good Morning San Jacinto College Community,

I know many of you are wondering how the Federal shutdown is or will impact San Jacinto College.  Teri Zamora, Vice Chancellor of Fiscal Affairs, has put together a brief overview that I wanted to share with all of you.

Like most institutions of higher education, San Jacinto College receives federal funding that supplements our State funding and tuition revenues.  We have a number of employees who are paid with federal funds, and we incur additional expenditures to support their activities.  In addition, most of our work study students are paid with federal funds. Good afternoon San Jacinto College Community,

It is my pleasure to welcome Teri Zamora and Dianne Duron to San Jacinto College. Both began their service at San Jacinto College on January 3, 2018.

Teri is serving as the Vice Chancellor, Fiscal Affairs. Teri comes to San Jacinto College with 20+ years’ experience in senior leadership positions of increasing responsibility. She joins us from Houston Community College, where she served as the Senior Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of North Texas and a Master of Accountancy degree from University of Texas-Pan American. Read the rest of this entry »
